What is Ecwin (15mg)

Ecwin (15mg) is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). Ecwin (15mg) works by reducing hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body.
Ecwin (15mg) is used to treat pain or inflammation caused by osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis in adults and children who are at least 2 years old.
Ecwin (15mg) may also be used for purposes not listed in Ecwin (15mg) guide.

Ecwin (15mg) side effects

Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Stop using Ecwin (15mg) and call your doctor at once if you have a serious side effect such as:

chest pain, weakness, shortness of breath, slurred speech, problems with vision or balance;
black, bloody, or tarry stools;
coughing up blood or vomit that looks like coffee grounds;
swelling or rapid weight gain;
urinating less than usual or not at all;
nausea, upper stomach pain, itching, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes);
skin rash, bruising, severe tingling, numbness, pain, muscle weakness; or
severe skin reaction -- fever, sore throat, swelling in your face or tongue, burning in your eyes, skin pain, followed by a red or purple skin rash that spreads (especially in the face or upper body) and causes blistering and peeling.

Less serious side effects may include:

upset stomach, diarrhea, bloating, gas;
dizziness, nervousness, headache;
runny or stuffy nose, sore throat; or
mild skin rash.

Ecwin (15mg) dosing

Usual Adult Dose for Osteoarthritis:

Initial dose: 7.5 mg orally once daily
Maintenance dose: 7.5 mg orally once daily
Maximum dose: 15 mg orally daily

Usual Adult Dose for Rheumatoid Arthritis:

Initial dose: 7.5 mg orally once daily
Maintenance dose: 7.5 mg orally once daily
Maximum dose: 15 mg orally daily

Usual Pediatric Dose for Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis:

Greater than or equal to 2 years: 0.125 mg/kg orally once daily
Maximum dose: 7.5 mg orally daily
There was no additional benefit demonstrated by increasing the dose above 0.125 mg/kg once daily in clinical trials.

How should I take Ecwin (15mg)?

Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not take in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended. Follow the directions on your prescription label.

Ecwin (15mg) is usually taken once per day. Follow your doctor's instructions.

You may take Ecwin (15mg) with or without food.

a diuretic (water pill) such as furosemide (Lasix);

sodium polystyrene sulfonate (Kayexalate, Kionex);
steroids (prednisone and others);
